Local Beaches

The Algarve coastline has some of the best beaches in Europe, most have Blue Flag status, which means they have been awarded the official European Blue Flag award for water quality, safety and many other criteria.

The choice of beaches locally is impressive, from long sandy beaches to unspoilt secluded coves and even the most popular rarely become overcrowded even in the height of season.

Gale beach Gale beach

Gale beach - reputedly the longest sandy beach on the Algarve, two minutes by car from the Quinta da Saudade. One of the more popular beaches (but no means busy) this beach has a number of beach bars and restaurants and is served by a lifeguard and has car parking and toilets available. Gale beach also has water sports activities such as Jet Skis available to hire.

Coelho beach Coelho beach
Coelho beach - consisting of one small sandy bay, affording greater privacy. Well worth a visit, with only a two minute drive
plus a five minute walk to find this gem. The beach side restaurant is also highly recommended.
Lourenco beach Lourenco beach
Lourenco beach - a sandy beach with many secluded rocky outcrops, again only two minutes away.
